“I am not to be served, but to be served”
For the first time since 1953, the coronation ceremony of a British monarch is taking place. Charles III will officially ascend to the throne, where he actually is after the death of Elizabeth II. We show the online broadcast of the coronation of Charles III.
The stages of the ceremony, of course, are very clearly scheduled. Together with his wife Camilla, the king is heading to Westminster Abbey from Buckingham Palace. It is in Westminster Abbey that British monarchs have been crowned for nine centuries. The royal couple is driven by a carriage – however, of modern manufacture. But they will return back to the palace in a historical carriage, which was used back in the 19th century.
At the coronation service, which will be conducted in several languages of the peoples of Britain, Charles III will pray aloud. One of the key moments of the ceremony is the utterance by the king of the phrase: I am “not to serve me, but to serve.”
The anointing itself in the literal sense of the word – with oil – will not be shown, it is considered a sacrament.
Next, the king and queen consort will be crowned with golden crowns set with precious stones of great value, among which are the famous Culinan diamonds.
About two thousand people were invited to the celebration at the abbey. Watch the video of the online broadcast of the coronation of Charles III.
