A new chanson show “Live String” is coming out at TVC

May 7 on the TV Center channel – the premiere of a new musical show about chanson “Live String”. The hosts are Eleonora Filina and Sergey Voitenko. The guests of the first issue are Vika Tsyganova, Igor Sarukhanov, Denis Maidanov, Sergey Kuprik and Alexander Krug. They will not only perform their hits, but also tell stories related to them.

Igor Sarukhanov performed several compositions, including the immortal hit Violin-Fox. The singer remembered the history of the name of the song, and that it might not have become so popular if he had listened to his colleagues, who were sure that the song would not be taken on the radio because it was slow … Denis Maidanov admitted that wrote the song “Eternal Love” at the age of 25 right in the minibus, on the way to work, and that it is not dedicated to a specific woman, but only to the dream of such a great love. And Sergey Kuprik was taken aback by the admission that for the first couple of years of performing the composition “White Swan” he did not understand what this song was about, and that its true meaning was revealed to him after a couple of years …

Vika Tsyganova is one of the most famous performers in the chanson genre. She performed such hits as “Russian Field”, “Love and Death” and “Come to My House”. In connection with the latter, a real surprise awaited the singer – a video message from cosmonaut, Hero of Russia Oleg Artemyev. Oleg said that music is always with him – both at home and in space, and that “Come to my house” often reminded astronauts of home and relatives when they were in outer space.

So what is chanson, and what songs can be attributed to this genre? This is the main question of the program, the answer to which the presenters will look for together with performers and music experts – singer Igor Slutsky and journalist Alexei Ostudin.

“Chanson is music for the soul, it is always specific stories and very beautiful melodies,” says Eleonora Filina. “Chanson” means “song” in French. And it was born back in the 15th century – then Russia had its own “chansonniers” – buffoons-guslars. But it was only in the 20th century in the 90s that the name “chanson” came, it became a separate musical direction.

All those present agreed that the chanson genre is folk songs that have sunk into the soul, simple and human. Those that can be sung just sitting at the table. These are songs about people – those about which a person can say: “This is about me!” Songs where there is truth, soul and simplicity of presentation.

– Chanson artists are so popular that they are somewhere at the intersection of genres. And the chanson genre itself has mutated a lot in Russia over the past 25 years, it has become wider than it was in the early 90s, when it was used to give the name to “thieves” music, says Denis Maidanov. – If we talk about the origins, then Russian epics can be called such. Guys with a harp, around which people gather, and they sing about something important, about nature, homeland …

“Summarizing, we can say that chanson has always remained understandable to people, and the main feature of the genre is relevance, timeliness, democracy and understandability,” summed up Sergey Voitenko.
