Sanitary doctor Gennady Onishchenko, commenting on the need to reduce the list of medical exemptions for military service in connection with mobilization, noted that the situation is new for us: the last one was from 1941, except for the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, when about 60 thousand people were mobilized.
Meanwhile, the list of diseases that allow young people to be recognized as partially fit or unfit for service has not been revised for a long time. “Yes, there are types of troops where good physical training is required, for example, special forces. And our infantry today is motorized, and there is no need to run fast anymore. Or there are generally IT-troops where you can serve remotely, even those who have no legs can be taken there,” Onishchenko noted. And he added that there would be no total abolition of medical taps for mobilization.
