Maybe the deputies really believe that Europe is frozen and America is mired in sin. And everyone around them only dreams and dreams of living in Russia, dancing, baking loaves and watching our TV. However, over the past hundred years, if we do not recall the Stalinist era of industrialization, when the USSR signed temporary contracts with American specialists, only a few names of those who permanently moved to our country, changed their mental matrix, became a real Russian, not only according to their passport, but and in spirit.

In the days of the late USSR, there was such a family of Lokshin scientists. The case is unique in its kind (not counting the “presidential killer” Lee Harvey Oswald in the 60s and the whistleblower Snowden now), so even first graders knew about it.

An American opposed to his government, who immediately received a huge apartment in Cheryomushki and a laboratory for management, began his first interview in the USSR with the words: “Now we are waiting for a free life!” At a big press conference, he told that he and his three children had no future in America.

Contrary to forecasts, Lokshin did not return to his homeland during perestroika, and he hardly could, he cursed the imperialist West too loudly. As they say on the Internet, he is still alive. He is 82 years old. He has a standard Moscow pension, he is not rich and is no longer famous. But he has no regrets.

His children built careers here, fortunately, everyone had an excellent start.

But where his wife Lauren, Arnold does not tell. In an interview with our newspaper, he mentioned that they parted ways a long time ago due to different views.

Already in modern Russia, the Indian John Robles fled from America. He came to us in 1996, when he was 30 years old. He became the first official political refugee from the United States in modern times, having managed to prove that he could not go back, as it was not safe for him.

At the same time, our migration services drove him back to the USA for almost thirty years. They put sticks in his wheels. I remember once I went with him to the FMS near Moscow to extend my refugee status, and it was a nightmare.

“I can’t lie, Katya. I am afraid that one day I will be put in jail or even deported for the truth,” he complained to me.

John took his little son and daughter with him to Russia. This is where they grew up.

His son later served time for drugs in a Russian penal colony and, as a US citizen, was nevertheless deported to America. John said that his son suffered because of him, and this is the machinations of the CIA.

Robles himself lived hard and still could not find himself. Because the radio, where he worked, was closed, and his political and general views on life were peculiar … Officials did not even make a secret of the fact that they consider John a very strange and somewhat suspicious person. If it were their will, he wouldn’t be here anymore. Apparently, his fierce love for Russia and hatred for the United States seemed to someone too exaggerated, as if according to the script. Although John was perfectly sincere. And he expected the same sincerity in response from the new Motherland.

“All Indians are real communists. It’s in our blood. Social justice, equality, brotherhood. We invented communism, I’m sure Lenin just borrowed it from us. Once I specially went to the world exhibition in Canada, went to the Soviet pavilion, and there I had my first contact with the KGB. I said I was against US imperialism. That I am a member of the US Communist Party and want to live in the USSR. But they didn’t want to listen to me. They probably thought I was a spy.”

However, bad luck seemed to follow John on his heels, and a funnel of unsolvable problems sucked in everything that surrounded him. His citizenship case was not allowed to proceed until the very end. And with the status of a refugee, they hung around for a long time.

Only at the end of last year, almost thirty years after his arrival, 56-year-old John Robles finally received Russian citizenship.

“There is justice in the world. God sees everything,” he captioned his smiling passport photo. Subscribers congratulated him, but many still did not believe that this was true. Even a son from America wrote: “For real?” – “Seriously?”

I wrote to John, but he did not answer – he rarely visits Moscow now. But basically, he volunteers extremely actively in the Donbass, he literally didn’t get out of there all last year, he quotes Medvedev’s words on his page that America will soon order a long life, and is offended when he is now called an American.

“To the idiot who greeted me with “Hey American!”, go to hell. I hate America with all my heart and soul. I understand why the US wants to erase me from history, because I have always stood for Russia. Everyone used to call me Russian, and I was proud of it. Now everything is different. Racism”.

It is clear that Robles with all his eccentricities is a real unique. And even if people like him exist somewhere and are ready to go here, they are unlikely to choose Russia in order to be fruitful and multiply here. And that’s why they want to invite them. By the way, John himself did not build family happiness.

We also offhand recall the story of Bishop-Evangelist Richard Raymond (Rick) Renner, who received Russian citizenship at the end of last year. And the farmer Justas Walker from Altai, whom missionary parents brought as a boy in the 90s, left themselves, and he remained to raise agriculture.

In Russia, you can safely have ten cows, get a certificate from a veterinarian and sell milk. And in the US, you can only have four cows. And if you suddenly decide to sell this milk, you will have to go through a lot of quality checks. “You can’t go to your neighbor in the countryside in America and just buy milk. But in Russia it is possible.

Of course, you can provide insane subsidies to Americans who suddenly decide to move to the Russian Federation, give them free of charge not only apartments, but also houses in the Far East, and hectares of land. Let them live, what is already there, it’s not a pity.

There will certainly be money for these large-scale projects in the budget. But we must understand that this is more likely to be a story about a single PR, and not about stopping extinction in our country.

Wouldn’t it be better to help and provide a decent life for your own citizens, so that they would not want to leave, but on the contrary, they would like to give birth to more little Russians.
