One step forward, two steps sideways // Socialist scientists tried to reconcile the “Russian world” with internationalism

Members of the public organization “Russian Scientists of Socialist Orientation” (RUSO) discussed on Thursday the roots and facets of the “Russian world”. Most of all, when analyzing this concept, socialists were predictably interested in the “dialectic of the national and international.” The round table participants refrained from making definitive conclusions, preferring the well-known supranational Soviet experience to specifics. And only one of them suggested closing the topic altogether, recalling Vladimir Lenin’s harsh criticism of “Great Russian chauvinism.”
