On election days, schoolchildren will visit regional museums, parks and the Unified State Examination

“Selective” schools go on excursions on March 14–16

Polling stations in schools are as much a given in our country as samovars in Tula or herring along with a fur coat. And since elections require classrooms to prepare, and then vice versa, the “class” week is shortened to Wednesday. The students are happy, because instead of stuffy classrooms they will be taken to the park or on excursions.

And again traditionally: the decision about how to study or not be lazy on election days is left to local administrations.

Volgograd was one of the first to be identified. From the hero city they report that on March 15 and 16 there will be no classes in “selective” schools in the city and region. Instead, there will be excursions and “other events.” “Health Days, excursions or Project Activity Days will be organized,” the regional committee of education, science and youth policy clarifies the “agenda”.

It is reported from Omsk that the lion’s share of all schools there will be given over to “elections” – 127 out of 153. Therefore, distance learning will be organized in them on March 14-16 (some study on Saturdays). Some of the schools where students study in quarters will still be on vacation. In a number of villages, they decided to organize a vacation for a day or two in order to have time to prepare the premises for study.

In Yekaterinburg, the municipal education department also recommends switching to distance learning for the period March 14–16. But at the same time, they leave it up to teachers to determine “other forms of work: go (with children) on an excursion, to the theater or museum.”

But in the Komi Republic there is another recommendation – the local Ministry of Education and Science advises “to exclude full-time and distance learning for primary and basic level students.” And the schools themselves should stop working “in the afternoon of March 14.” Instead, it is recommended to “organize the educational process as much as possible through extracurricular activities with visits to sports and cultural facilities, organizing career guidance meetings in organizations, etc.” Well, or organize homework assignments aimed at “repetition and consolidation of the material covered.” Avoiding “an overwhelmingly large number of tasks,” the department warns. And they reasonably advise graduates to sit down and prepare for the Unified State Examination and the Unified State Examination using the “republican resource of information materials.”

“It’s the same in Moscow,” says head teacher and elementary school teacher Lidia Leonidova. – Either extracurricular activities or distance learning are recommended. Lessons are shortened on Thursday. Friday is always an excursion day for us, in primary and secondary schools. Graduates – yes, they sit at home, prepare, every day counts for them.

It is clear that tickets are sold out in advance, as on holidays, it is impossible to find a free museum.
