Two Ukrainian drones were destroyed over the Belgorod region by Russian air defense systems, reported press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The attack from Ukraine was stopped on October 15 at about 14:00 Moscow time. According to the defense department, the Ukrainian military planned to attack targets in the region with aircraft-type drones. Two UAVs were destroyed by air defense systems on duty, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov clarified in his Telegram channel that the military shot down air targets over the Belgorod region on approach to Belgorod.

“Operational services are clarifying information about the consequences on the ground. According to preliminary data, there were no casualties or destruction,” he wrote.

On October 14, the Ministry of Defense and regional authorities also told about a downed drone. Then, as a result of falling debris in the village of Novaya Derevnya, the roof and attic of a private house were damaged, but no one was injured.

The Belgorod region, like other border regions, has been regularly attacked by Ukraine since the beginning of the military special operation. Since October 19, 2022, by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a medium level of response has been established in the region. In addition, the region remains at an indefinite “yellow” (high) level of terrorist threat.
