Omsk sambo wrestlers took 4 bronze medals at the Alexander Pushnitsa memorial

The day before, on October 27, the All-Russian sambo competition was held in Omsk at the Krasnaya Zvezda sports complex. They were dedicated to the memory of the legendary athlete Alexander Pushnitsa.

As the press service of the Omsk region government reported, more than 250 athletes from twenty-five regions of Russia took part in the competition. The participants and guests of the competition were greeted by the Mayor of Omsk Sergei Shelest and the First Deputy Minister of Sports of the Omsk Region Ivan Kolesnik. The head of the region, Vitaly Khotsenko, also wished good luck to the sambiists.

“We are holding this tournament for the twenty-third time, but for the first time it is being held as a memorial. Now the organization of competitions becomes even more responsible. When Alexander Mikhailovich passed away, our philanthropist Sergei Pavlovich Kozubenko and I decided to make a monument to our great athlete,” said Sergei Shelest.

The bust of Alexander Pushnitsa will be unveiled in November this year.

Ivan Kolesnik, in turn, noted the need to continue the work started by Alexander Pushnitsa and develop the traditions laid down by him.

“Our task today is to develop the sports school that Alexander Mikhailovich has been involved in for a very long time, and sambo in general. Moreover, this sport is one of the priorities for our country,” – the first deputy head of the regional Ministry of Sports also said.

In addition, Ivan Kolesnik presented a commemorative medal to the honored guest of the Memorial – Honored Trainer of Russia Alexander Yakovlev. He was a friend and colleague of Alexander Pushnitsa on the USSR national team. The medal was dedicated to the centenary of the formation of the state governing body in the field of physical culture and sports.

As for the competitions themselves, Omsk residents were able to take prizes in combat sambo competitions. “Bronze” went to four athletes representing our region. The winners here were Novosibirsk and Krasnoyarsk residents.

In sports sambo, representatives of the Altai Republic, Sverdlovsk region, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug and Krasnoyarsk Territory rose to the top step of the podium.

Earlier, “MK in Omsk” wrote that in September the sports club named after A. Pushnitsa became sports school.

And also from the fact that the competition dedicated to this outstanding athlete was held in March of this year in Chile. As noted by the President of the Chilean National Sports Federation of Sambo and Martial Arts, Nelson Romero, everyone present at the competition gathered to pay tribute to the great champion and outstanding person with a big heart.
