Omsk Krasnaya Zvezda stadium is being prepared for transfer to the balance of the region

On Tuesday, November 15, the press service of the Omsk City Hall announced the study of the transfer of the Krasnaya Zvezda stadium to the balance of the Omsk Region. This is explained by the need to build the stadium itself in the open air. Now the stands of the facility that exists are already emergency.

The emergency stadium “Red Star” can get a second life – so the mayor’s office of Omsk on Tuesday, November 15, announced a possible transfer of the object to the balance of the region. The press service of the city administration explained: due to the lack of a large modern stadium in Omsk with a convenient training base and other infrastructure, the city is not quite considered as a venue for all-Russian and international competitions in various sports (by the way, this did not stop this year from holding and districts of the region All-Russian Rural Sports Games). According to the regulations of the RFU, for example, the priority is to hold football matches of professional clubs in open street stadiums.

According to officials, the restoration of the stadium with the money from the city budget is impossible. According to the most conservative estimates, several billion rubles are needed for this.

Previously, year after year, attempts to attract investors ended unsuccessfully. Now there seems to be a chance to change the situation.

The solution is this: the regional government, together with the mayor’s office, are working on the possibility of a concession agreement with some private investors. And for this, the UK must go “under the patronage” of the regional Ministry of Sports. On Tuesday, November 15, at a meeting of the profile committee of the City Council, the relevant documents were presented to the deputies. The plans include the construction of a stadium in accordance with all the requirements of the RFU. As planned, it should accommodate more than 15 thousand people. In its old form, when the Red Star also had a large northern stand, in addition to the western and eastern ones, it could accommodate 18,000 people.

The mayor’s office assured that the change of owner would not affect the interests of the pupils and coaches of the stadium sections – they, as before, would work out at their usual training bases. Including in the indoor football arena, commissioned in 2006. By the way, there are no problems with the arena now, Omsk FC Irtysh plays its matches in FNL-2 exactly there.

It is interesting, however, that plans to transfer the stadium to the region, as reported by insiders, were the reason resignation of the director of the city department for youth affairs, physical culture and sports Viktor Nekrasov. Allegedly, he resisted them, even saying: “First, build a new stadium, and then take it away, no problem.” The City Hall of Omsk does not officially confirm this.
