On Thursday, March 7, Avangard played the fourth match of the 1/8 finals of the Gagarin Cup against Lada in Tolyatti and lost 1:4. He missed the last goal into an empty net. The only goal scored by the Hawks was scored by Reed Boucher.

Omsk hockey players played the fourth match against Lada in the 1/8 finals of the KHL championship playoffs – it took place in Tolyatti. As a result, the “hawks” lost 1:4. The series score became 3:1 – still in their favor.

Let’s note several things at once – not very objective refereeing, more precisely, even in favor of the opponent, episodes when our players’ sticks broke, unsuccessful rebounds of the puck. All this was in this case against our team. The referees gave the guests a whole wave of ejections, but they were not so harsh towards Tolyatti. Well, for some reason our second link in attack has wilted.

In the first period, the hosts took the lead 1:0 in even strength after a goal from Nikita Popugaev – by the way, the author of the Volga team’s only goal in the second match of the series. Further goals already occurred in the second period – the Omsk team equalized the score in the 26th minute. Reed Boucher scored with a quick and cunning throw from under the defender – it turned out to be a sort of “invisible” goal. Tkachev and Sharipzchnov passed to him.

But in the same period, the automakers took a 2:1 lead when foreign player Kosmachuk scored against them. One of the passes was given to him by ex-“hawk” Dmitry Kugryshev. And yet, in this segment Kholodilin from Avangard and Ivanyuzhenkov from the Volga team fought. The opponent managed to rip off our player’s sweater, but he still managed to land several good blows on him.

In the third period, the Omsk team failed to come back. The Tolyatti team scored in the 53rd minute thanks to the efforts of Popugaev again (thus he scored a double) – 3:1. Then the guests desperately tried to get even, removing goalkeeper Khomchenko and entering the field with six of them, but did not score. But the hosts sent the puck into an empty net – in the 58th minute this was done specifically by Egor Babenko. Total 4:1 in favor of the Volga team.

Next we are waiting for the fifth match between these teams in Omsk – March 9 at 16:30.

We wrote earlier that Avangard won “Lada” in the third match of the series. It was March 5th.
