Volleyball player and champion of the 1980 Olympics in the USSR national team Vyacheslav Zaitsev died at the age of 70. This was reported on the website of the All-Russian Volleyball Federation (VVF).
“In addition to colossal sporting achievements, I must say that Vyachslav Alekseevich was an incredibly kind, open and sympathetic person with a huge heart,” the obituary says.
The cause of death is not named. Zaitsev was also a two-time world champion and a seven-time European champion. The federation noted that his death is a huge loss.
