Ugandan track and field athlete Benjamin Kiplagat was found dead in Kenya with stab wounds, Daily Monitor writes.

According to information, the 34-year-old athlete was stabbed in the chest and neck while he was in his car. Local police said two men have been detained on suspicion of murder. They found the alleged murder weapon – a knife. According to some reports, the attackers specifically ambushed Kiplagat and arranged for the athlete’s car to crash into their motorcycle.

Kiplagat specialized in the 3000m steeplechase. He finished ninth at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. At the London 2012 Games, a Ugandan athlete reached the final but was disqualified. Kiplagat holds the national record of 8 minutes 3.81 seconds.
