Former USSR national basketball player Anatoly Polivoda died at the age of 76. This was reported by the Ukrainian Basketball Federation. According to her, the athlete died on January 21, the causes of death were not specified.
Anatoly Polivoda became the champion of the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. Before the final game against the US team, he suffered a heart attack. Due to health problems, he retired from acting at the age of 25. He was subsequently diagnosed with congenital Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. In 1985, the athlete underwent surgery.
Together with the USSR national team, Polivoda also won bronze at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City. In addition, he was a three-time European champion (1967, 1969, 1971), world champion (1967) and USSR champion (1967).
