Olympians Fesikovs set European and world records in swimming at SakhMasters 2023

On the final day of the 1st International Swimming Tournament “SakhMasters-2023” in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, records were set in the 50-meter backstroke. Anastasia Fesikova updated the European record (00:29.49 seconds), and Sergei Fesikov set the world record in Masters swimming (00:25.53), the press service of the Ministry of Sports of the Sakhalin Region reported.
“The third day of starts was marked by the performance of silver and bronze medalists of the Olympic Games, world, European and Russian swimming champions Anastasia and Sergei Fesikov. Famous athletes competed in the 50-meter backstroke and took first places in their starts. Anastasia also set a new European record (00:29.49 seconds), and Sergei set a world record in Masters swimming (00:25.53),” the Ministry of Sports said.
According to Anastasia Fesikova, such a high result came as a surprise to her, since the athlete did not conduct any special training.
On the final day of the tournament, swimmers competed in the 50-meter breaststroke and backstroke, 200-meter butterfly, 400-meter freestyle, as well as the 4×50-meter freestyle relay and the 4×50-meter medley relay.
Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Sakhalin Region Vladimir Yushchuk spoke among the competition participants. As part of the SakhMasters 2 team, he had to overcome one of the stages of the 4×50 meter freestyle relay. According to the results of the swim, the team took first place in the “120-159 years old” group (total age of the relay participants) with a result of 2:02.03 seconds.
Previously “MK on Sakhalin” wrote, that on the second competition day, September 23, of the 1st international swimming tournament “SakhMasters-2023”, 90-year-old athlete Valentin Meshcheryakov updated the European record in the 200-meter freestyle backstroke. His result is 4:17:01.
