Oksana Akinshina will become a surrogate mother

“Container” is the story of Sasha (Oksana Akinshina), who earns a new life in a non-standard way: surrogate motherhood. Every year more and more people resort to the services of professional surrogate mothers. Both stars and non-public couples stop hiding that they used the help of a “third party”. The main roles in the project were played by Oksana Akinshina, Philip Yankovsky and Marusya Fomina. Other cast: Yulia Aug, Artem Bystrov, Masha Lobanova, Nino Kantaria.

General producer of the project and co-founder of the START online cinema Vitaly Shlyappo: “Container” is a continuation of the eternal conversation “can money buy happiness?”. The answer “no” seems obvious, but then why do so many try and try?”

Creator and showrunner Alexey Lyapichev: “We live in a world where any service can be obtained without leaving the couch. Science and medicine have taken a huge step forward. So much so that the most important moment in life – the birth of a child – has become an ordinary and in-demand service. Now this is not a sacrament, but a set of procedures, as a result of which you not only “receive” a child, but you can be sure in advance of his health, gender and eye color. It became interesting for us to understand the motivation, feelings and emotions of the two sides of the process: the customer and the contractor. In our country, unlike many others, surrogate motherhood is not prohibited. This topic is multifaceted, complex and interesting, I want to tell the audience about it. In the process of writing the script, the author’s group’s attitude to surrogate motherhood changed several times, the topic aroused stormy emotions and discussions. I’m sure the viewer will experience similar feelings. In addition, the story turned out to be serious, sometimes mysterious, with many secrets and mysteries.

Oksana Akinshina, actress: “Container” is, firstly, a study of a difficult and very interesting topic, and secondly, an exciting story with bright and ambiguous characters. I was very happy to play such an unexpected heroine. My Sasha is a strong, but at the same time broken woman, a hostage of circumstances that she wants to change by rewinding everything, and therefore makes certain decisions for herself. As in any story, life makes its own adjustments, and everything does not happen the way she would like. There are no positive or negative characters in the series. I think this is a very realistic story. In life there is no white and black, there is gray. No matter how it seems to us from the outside that the fate of another person is more festive, and someone else’s family is happier, having got to know someone a little closer, we see that everything is not so rosy. It shows the real side of each character, and you understand that they are all miserable in their own way.

Marusya Fomina, actress:“I would say that this is a story about the underside of the surrogacy business. I knew little about this world until I started working on the project and began to find out how it all happens. I learned that this is a severe blow to health, that women are at great risk, there are certain cases of child abandonment, and so on. So it’s a very controversial topic. My character is a monster in a way. I like that it is versatile – not unambiguously good or bad. But I have a fear that she will cause complete rejection in the viewer, because she does abnormal things. On the other hand, all the characters in the series have their weak points, they are not flat.
