October 4 in Russia was considered the day of fertility and agriculture. On this day, it was necessary to work, first of all, to fertilize the land in order to prepare it for a new harvest. But it was not advised to go into the forest, especially alone.

According to popular beliefs, on this day, goblin arrange wild games in the forests before hibernation, so it is not safe for an ordinary person to be there. And if it was still necessary to go to the forest, then they went during the day, and not one by one, but at least together.

It was also believed that on October 4, you can tie your husband to yourself forever. To do this, the wives cooked porridge from the grain ground that day and poured it with honey. The porridge had to be eaten with her husband. The main thing is that no one else should taste it, otherwise someone who is not the same will become attached, and then you will suffer.

Observed October 4 and some prohibitions. So, on this day it was impossible to pick up anything at the crossroads – even if you dropped yours. It was not recommended to lend money, and spend your own on large acquisitions.

Also, our ancestors believed that if you stand on the doorstep that day, you will bring trouble into the house, and if you marry, the marriage will not be happy.

But if something pleasant happens to you, do not be surprised – there is a belief that on this day the good done by him can return to him.

You can watch nature on October 4th. According to popular belief, the weather that will be on this day will last for four weeks. What else will nature suggest?

– if it is clear and windy in the morning, the winter will be cold;

– all the leaves flew from the birches – the winter will be warm;

– if the day is cold, and the night gets warmer – there will be bad weather.

Well, they did not pay attention to the dreams that occurred on the night of October 4th. It was believed that they could not be prophetic.
