Nvidia's RTX Remix platform will update old games with new graphics

American company Nvidia presented beta version of the new RTX Remix platform, thanks to which users will be able to remaster classic games. Users will not be able to publish such projects separately due to copyright, but it will be possible to create modifications with installation on existing games.

The new technology will use AI to add high-resolution textures, DLSS image scaling technology, and ray tracing and path tracing to older games. The platform will help with games that support older DirectX 8 and DirectX 9 APIs and consists of two components: the Remix tool itself and the Runtime runtime. With the help of the first, you can change the lighting in games, add new and improve old textures, the second will help with capturing original materials and integrating improved ones. The ModDB website, popular among modders, will also have a new thematic section with the search and distribution of modifications created using RTX Remix.
