Dietitian Elena Solomatina noted that red and black caviar are considered traditional delicacies on the festive table for many Russians. In addition, according to her, caviar contains polyunsaturated fatty acids, including omega-3, which boost immunity and improve health, but not everyone can use these products.
The specialist told “Evening Moscow”that red and black caviar contain a lot of cholesterol and salt, and if a person suffering from cardiovascular diseases or hypertension abuses these products, then his health can deteriorate significantly.
Solomatina emphasized that these components are especially harmful for such people. As the nutritionist noted, there is a lot of salt in black and red caviar – almost 10 grams per 100 grams of the product, although the allowable rate should not exceed 4.5 grams. The doctor added that salt affects the gastrointestinal tract, cardiovascular system and joints, and can also lead to hypertension and reduced immunity.
In addition, according to Solomatina, caviar can cause a serious allergic reaction, namely angioedema or anaphylactic shock, and poor-quality caviar, in turn, negatively affects the functioning of the liver, nervous system and kidneys.
