Scientific and Production Association named after. S. A. Lavochkina (part of Roskosmos) intends to launch the Russian interplanetary station Boomerang after 2030. It must deliver the soil from Mars’ moon Phobos.
The terms are mentioned in the materials of the enterprise, which I have read TASS. The first stage of the expedition involves the study of both Mars and its two satellites “by remote and contact methods.” The main tasks are called landing on celestial bodies in the absence of gravity and the delivery of samples of Phobos matter to Earth.
It was known that the “Boomerang” should deliver about 600 grams of soil. In 2016, it was supposed to participate in the project of the European Space Agency, but it refused to cooperate with the Russian Federation after the deployment of troops to Ukraine.
It is expected that the device will be launched from the Vostochny cosmodrome using the Angara. Its weight will be 6.5 tons. “Boomerang” should go into orbit around Mars, Phobos and Deimos and conduct their remote study. After that, the device should make a soft landing on Phobos and take samples. It is planned that the return vehicle will go to the Earth, which should land on the territory of Russia.
