November 2 in the folk calendar is Artemyev’s day. In Rus’ at that time they paid special attention to fences and fences, checked their strength and, if necessary, repaired unreliable areas.
It was believed that from that day on, wolves begin to get closer to housing in search of prey. Therefore, from those whose fences were not strong enough, predators could steal poultry or attack livestock. In order not to become a victim of a wolf attack, from that day on, after sunset, they did not go out into the forest or into the field.
Another belief was connected with the repair of fences, gates and doors: wealth can flow through a thin fence or weak gates, and if the entrances to the courtyard and housing are well fortified, then the year will be monetary. If you follow this sign, you can start replacing the front door in the apartment or in the country, if, in your opinion, they do not protect the house well enough from penetration.
Traditionally, cabbage dishes were served at the table on Artemia, and in any form. It could be cabbage soup, stewed, sauerkraut or salted cabbage, cabbage pancakes and the like. They believed that eating cabbage on this day can improve health for the whole year.
On Artemia they did not engage in risky business, the successful outcome of which largely depended on luck. But important things were tried to be completed on that day, so that they would not stretch for a long time.
Also, according to popular signs, today you can’t shake out bedspreads, blankets, pillows and bed linen – along with dust, you can shake out wealth. It is also better not to stare at flying birds – they can take your well-being with them.
Natural signs on November 2 are as follows:
– birds sit on the ground – to warming, and if they sit on the roofs and branches of trees – to a cold snap;
– larch completely flew around – a permanent snow cover will soon be established;
– it was dry, and now snow has fallen – to warming;
– the clouds are red or black – to the deterioration of the weather.
Dreams that occurred on the night of November 2 are often prophetic and begin to come true very soon.
