Norway has decided to introduce a ban on the entry of cars with Russian license plates from October 3. About it reported on the website of the country’s government.
“It is important that sanctions are effective so that, as far as possible, we prevent the flow of revenue that Russia needs,” quotes Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt TV 2.
The restrictions will apply to vehicles with nine or fewer seats. Thus, it is possible to cross the border by minibuses and buses.
The restrictions will not apply to vehicles owned by Norwegian citizens or EU citizens permanently residing in Russia, as well as members of their families. Exceptions were also made for trips “for humanitarian reasons”: in the case of an acute illness or a funeral in the family. Diplomatic vehicles, as well as vehicles belonging to international organizations or state courier services, will be allowed to cross the border. It is emphasized that all this applies only to vehicles, and not to the persons who use them. Even if a car falls under one of the exceptions, this does not mean that the occupants are automatically permitted to travel to Norway.
