On March 2, an extreme race along a five-kilometer track took place in the Murmansk military-patriotic park “Patriot”. The start of the race was given by Admiral Alexander Moiseev and the head of the “Race of Heroes” Igor Katysh, the press service of the Northern Fleet said.
“We are very proud of this location because it is the only obstacle race in the world that takes place above the Arctic Circle. There is nothing like this anywhere else,” shared Igor Katysh.
In 2024, the course with 19 difficult obstacles required from the participants not only good physical fitness and sports training, but also such qualities as mutual assistance and camaraderie. The large-scale event attracted thousands of spectators: it was both fun and educational.
An exhibition of military equipment and a concert were also prepared for the northerners. A field kitchen and hot tea made the sports festival feel homey. In total, about 300 athletes from all over the country took part in the Race of Heroes.
Already next week, all-Russian alpine skiing competitions will be held in Polyarnye Zorya and Monchegorsk. “MK in Murmansk” wrotethat they will take place for two age categories of athletes.
