Norilsk Nickel to increase control over shift workers after attack on two women

The administration of Norilsk, together with Norilsk Nickel, will strengthen control over the accommodation and behavior of visiting shift workers. In particular, it is planned to include clauses on the behavior of shift workers in labor contracts with workers from other regions. Violators can be fined or evicted from Norilsk. The measures are being taken against the backdrop of recent attacks shift worker for two women.

Mayor of Norilsk Dmitry Karasev noted the high interest in his city from contractors. “That means putting security first. We have repeatedly discussed this topic, but recent events show that we need to take radical measures so that our city can be safely moved around and live peacefully in it, ”he said on meeting in the administration of Norilsk.

Vladimir Sazonov, Deputy Director of Norilsk Nickel’s Polar Division and Security Director, said that a residential complex specially equipped for shift workers in the Kayerkan district of Norilsk would be expanded to 5,000 beds. On the territory of the complex, control over the movement of shift workers is established, and workers are delivered to the place of work and back by transport.

The head of the law enforcement department of the city administration, Oleg Timchenko, announced that in 2025, 359 video cameras with the function of biometric face recognition will be installed in the city. In addition, it is also planned to create a database of employees of contractors who work in Norilsk. At the moment, already 337 employees of contractors have been fired for violation of an employment contract and expelled from Norilsk, Norilsk Nickel reported.
