“No need to try to deceive the audience”: socially significant bloggers told how to top the news agenda

On March 5, the national video hosting RUTUBE (owned by Gazprom-Media Holding) held a round table “The power of words: how socially significant bloggers topped the Russian news agenda, despite blocking by Western media.” The discussion took place at the World Youth Festival.

Bloggers who faced blocking of their channels on Western sites gathered at the round table: journalists Yuri Podolyaka and Mikhail Onufrienko, war correspondent of Channel One Maryana Naumova. The moderator was Irina Dorokhina, Director of Marketing Communications of RUTUBE. Bloggers told how to change the information landscape and avoid fakes.

Yuriy Podolyaka outlined the principles of work that socially significant bloggers should adhere to and shared his methods of fact checking.

Maryana Naumova told what qualities a war correspondent should have and why she chose this profession at a young age.

Mikhail Onufrienko advised young bloggers to focus on quality content, including analytics. Speaking about the fight against fakes, the journalist emphasized that any information should be taken critically. He added that he decided to create a video blog when the fighting began in Ukraine. It became clear that this method of transmitting information would be more in demand, and the quality of the picture faded into the background, the essence of the content itself was more important.
