The 2023-2024 season in Russian mini-football was marked by the return to the professional level of St. Petersburg’s Aurora, one of the most titled clubs in the Russian Championship among women’s teams. The team from St. Petersburg missed the 2022-2023 season, but there were people ready to help revive the legendary brand and give it an impetus for development.
The main ideological inspirer of the revival of the St. Petersburg team was Nikolai Vladimirovich Khodov, who holds the post of president of the Torpedo PKMF. Nikolai Vladimirovich treats women’s mini-football with special warmth, attending home and away matches of “Normanochka”. The revival of Aurora happened thanks to Nizhny Novgorod financial, playing and coaching investments.
The main backbone of the Aurora squad is made up of young football players from the Nizhny Novgorod “Normanochka” system, and they are coached by Dmitry Navalnev and Oleg Baleevskikh. The 2023-2024 season began for Aurora with two defeats from Crystal.
AMFR President Emil Aliyev spoke about the role of Nikolai Khodov in the revival of Aurora.
“At the most difficult moment, Nikolai Khodov, a member of the AMFR Executive Committee and the president of Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo, extended a helping hand, who again demonstrated his sincere devotion to Russian mini-football and his readiness to support its development by any means,” said Emil Aliyev.
