Newsweek: US has little interest in preserving Ukraine's territorial integrity

The US is not interested in returning Ukraine to the 1991 borders, which Kyiv would like. Columnist Josh Hammer wrote about the mood of the American government in an article for Newsweek.

“The United States has very little interest (if any) in where exactly the state borders will be drawn in the east of the country,” Hammer said.

The main interest for Washington in the Ukrainian crisis, according to the author, remains the preservation of the Kyiv regime headed by Vladimir Zelensky. And they do not seek to discuss issues related to territorial integrity and do not consider them to be of fundamental importance.

Hammer also warned that the continued supply of weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces will inevitably lead to the depletion of the US military arsenal. “HIMARS missile launchers and Patriot missile defense systems don’t grow on trees,” he remarks wryly.
