Neurologist Olga Kalmykova in conversation with radio Sputnik stated that the appearance of dark spots (floaters) before the eyes may be associated with increased blood pressure.
According to her, very often floaters flash before people’s eyes when they lift various weights or suddenly change position. At the same time, dark spots in most cases indicate increased blood pressure, but there may be other reasons.
“In most cases, this occurs against a background of high blood pressure. At those moments when the vessels of the brain experience hypertonicity or spasm. Among other things, dark spots can be caused by low blood pressure, various eye diseases, arterial hypotension, migraines or diabetes,” Kalmykova noted.
She clarified that if floaters appear before your eyes more than three to four times a month, you should consult a doctor.
