Netanyahu explained the refusal to transfer weapons to Ukraine

Israel does not plan to transfer its weapons due to fears that they will go to Iran, declared Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.

“We are concerned about the possibility that if we handed over the systems to Ukraine, they would end up in the hands of Iran,” the prime minister said. We are talking, in particular, about the transfer of the Iron Dome anti-missile defense system (ABM). At the same time, in February, Netanyahu admittedthat the Israeli authorities will transfer the missile defense system to Ukraine.

June 23 Netanyahu informedthat Israel is already recording cases when Western weapons transferred to Ukraine are near its borders. Then he noted that the transferred weapons could eventually end up in the hands of Iran and be used against Israel itself.

The prime minister also said that Israel is in a “special position” compared to Poland or Germany supporting the supplies because it has a “close military border” with Russia and Israeli pilots fly alongside Russians in Syria.

In the fall of 2022, Netanyahu made a similar statement. He informedthat in the Golan Heights, where Israel is trying to prevent Iran from creating a second Lebanese front, the military is confronted with Israeli-made weapons. Netanyahu also added that, in his opinion, the biggest danger of the Ukrainian crisis is that it could escalate into a “global conflict”, including the possible use of nuclear weapons.

After the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, Western countries began to provide financial and military assistance to the Ukrainian army. The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized such supplies. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the military support of Kyiv from the West cannot affect the outcome of the special operation, it only delays the hostilities.
