Neftekhimik head coach Leontyev was attacked in Nizhnekamsk

Three unknown persons attacked the head coach of the Neftekhimik hockey club Oleg Leontyev, reported team press service. Mr. Leontiev himself told TASSthat he was not seriously injured. He received two stitches.
The press service of Neftekhimik clarified that the incident occurred on the morning of January 20 in Nizhnekamsk. According to Mr. Leontyev, three unknown people began to push him when he was walking down the street before training. After the coach asked them why they were doing this, one of the young men hit him “with a roundhouse without talking.”
“I ask, ‘Do you know who I am?’ He recognizes me, those two also recognized me, he ran away, and they followed him. I recorded them on video. I went to the arena, they stitched me up, everything was fine, I was not hospitalized,” added the head coach of Neftekhimik. The team’s press service noted that law enforcement agencies are investigating the causes and circumstances of the incident.
Oleg Leontyev is 53 years old. He has been heading Neftekhimik since 2021. The team from Nizhnekamsk takes eighth place in the standings of the Eastern Conference of the Kontinental Hockey League. Neftekhimik’s next match is scheduled for January 21. The team will meet with Admiral from Vladivostok.
