Nebenzya criticized the special representative of the UN Secretary General for fakes about the Russian military

Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya criticized the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for his report in which the Russian military was accused of sexual violence in Ukraine. He is quoted by RIA Novosti.

According to him, there were doubts about the objectivity of the report initially, but now they have dissipated.

“The accusations set out in it against the Russian military are groundless and absurd,” Nebenzya said, accusing the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative of “replicating fakes composed in Kiev.”

According to Nebenzya, Ukraine acts in the same way as the propaganda of Nazi Germany, guided by the principle “the grander the lie, the easier it is to believe in it.” At the same time, in his opinion, the UN Secretariat should not participate in this activity, and the accusations should be reasoned and based on verified facts.

“However, the Secretary General’s Special Representative prefers to simply include unfounded accusations against the state armed forces, without giving any chance for their verification,” said the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN.

He also said that Russian diplomats had already asked the UN Secretary General to provide information that would allow for verification, but this request was ignored.

Nebenzya also denied all the accusations set out in the report and recalled that the OHCHR monitoring mission in Ukraine and other organizations have repeatedly reported on the atrocities of Ukrainian nationalists. “However, this information has not been properly assessed in reports on sexual violence in the conflict,” he said, also recalling that the crimes of their own military in Ukraine are not being investigated. At the same time, he stated that the Russian authorities would bring the relevant criminal proceedings to an end, and the perpetrators would be held accountable.
