Moscow does not yet have information that would confirm reports about the fall in the territory of the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of Russia of a rocket launched on July 12 from the territory of the DPRK. About it informed Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova in her Telegram channel.
“The UN said that a North Korean missile launched on July 12 fell in the exclusive economic zone of Russia. North Korea and the Russian Federation did not comment on this information. Firstly, at the moment there is no supporting data on the fall in our exclusive economic zone,” she wrote.
Zakharova noted that with the ability of the UN to determine the direction of missile flight, Russia has a hope “for an early receipt from the Secretariat [ООН] long-awaited answer to the question of who is shelling the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant.
Earlier, the fact that a missile launched from the territory of the DPRK could fall on the territory of the Russian EEZ was announced by UN Assistant Secretary General Khaled Hiari during a meeting of the organization’s Security Council. According to him, the rocket, launched at 10:00 local time (04:00 Moscow time), flew about 1,000 km for 74 minutes, after which it fell into the sea in the Russian EEZ.
July 12 Ministry of Defense of Japan reported about the launch of a DPRK ballistic missile that fell in the Sea of Japan outside the country’s EEZ, about 250 km from Okushiri Island. According to the agency, it could be an intercontinental ballistic missile with a range of more than 5,500 km. The Japanese Ministry of Defense clarified that this is the 14th launch of such weapons by the DPRK.
