Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, called the actions of France, which disrupted a meeting of the UN Security Council on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the NATO bombing in Yugoslavia, an act of diplomatic aggression. He expressed this position on March 25 during a conversation with journalists.
“Today, on this anniversary of NATO aggression against Yugoslavia, we see a new case of diplomatic aggression on the part of France, a NATO member, this time in the UN Security Council,” said the Russian diplomat.
Nebenzya also noted that this aggression is directed against freedom of speech and expression in the highest body of the UN.
According to him, France and other UN members are using procedural tricks to prevent the convening of the Security Council on an issue of critical importance that has serious consequences for Serbia, the situation in Kosovo and the entire Western Balkans region.
Nebenzya recalled that the NATO bombing lasted 78 days and brought untold suffering and numerous losses to the population.

Earlier, on March 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia in 1999 a huge tragedy and condemned such actions as unacceptable. Putin noted that the West started the war without the approval of the UN Security Council, directly starting military operations in the very center of Europe.
Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko told the Izvestia newspaper that NATO will bear responsibility for what happened in Yugoslavia in 1999. According to him, the material damage from these events is approximately $100 billion.
Earlier, on March 22, Izvestia journalist Valentin Trushnin showed the consequences of NATO bombing in Serbia 25 years later.
