Nebenzya accused the West of cynically ignoring Kyiv's persecution of believers

Egregious violations of the universal and constitutional rights of followers of canonical Orthodoxy in Ukraine are taking place with the tacit consent of the sponsors of the Kyiv regime. Such a statement was made on Wednesday, June 14, by Vasily Nebenzya, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN.

The diplomat recalled that in Ukraine, the seizure of churches of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the forced liquidation of their communities continue, while cases of vandalism and violence against believers are recorded.

International human rights structures ignore these facts, which is especially cynical, since “we all talk about the inadmissibility of attacks on places of worship,” Nebenzya said.

Earlier, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov was asked to comment on the decision of the schismatic Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) to postpone the celebration of the Nativity of Christ to December 25, as Catholics and Protestants do. In response, the Kremlin speaker said with a sigh that “this is, in Russian, such an orgy, this is madnessUnfortunately”.

The Russian Embassy in the United States noted that the United States imputed Russia, without evidence, as an attempt to split the Orthodox Church, while ignoring the growing every day infringement of the rights of believers by the Kyiv regime. The diplomatic mission proposed “to stop politicizing the issue of freedom of religion, using it as a lever to influence the domestic and foreign policies of other states.”
