Navigation in tunnels appeared in Google Maps – Kommersant

American corporation Google added add a tunnel navigation function to your Maps service. The innovation is currently only available to users of Android devices and will allow you to track Bluetooth beacons in places where GPS coverage is weak.
Using beacons, Maps will receive the phone’s location and then provide real-time traffic data. Tunnel navigation already exists in the Google-owned Waze app, but it’s unclear whether Maps will use the same beacons or others.
The function will only work in those tunnels where Bluetooth beacons are already installed. Waze has partnerships in several cities around the world, including New York, Chicago, Boston, Paris, Rio de Janeiro and Brussels. It is not yet known whether this functionality will be duplicated for Google Maps.
