Navalny’s fourth lawyer Fedulov left Russia – Kommersant

The fourth lawyer of Alexei Navalny, Alexander Fedulov, who was supposed to represent the interests of the oppositionist in court today, left Russia. Last week, three of his colleagues were arrested in connection with the creation of an extremist community.

This morning, lawyer Alexander Fedulov stopped communicating and did not come to the meeting in the case of Alexei Navalny. Supporters of the politician assumed that Alexander Fedulov was detained, like three other lawyers of Alexei Navalny. Later RT TV channel published video from the airport, which allegedly showed the lawyer.

Alexander Fedulov himself confirmed his departure from Russia. “The situation is strange. The arrest of our colleagues who defended Navalny made significant adjustments to the work of the remaining defenders,” the lawyer said on Instagram (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

On October 13, searches were conducted at the offices of Alexei Navalny’s lawyers Vadim Kobzev, Alexey Liptser and Igor Sergunin. On the same day arrested in the case of an extremist community (Part 2 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The court hearings were held behind closed doors at the request of the investigation.

As the politician’s ally Ivan Zhdanov (recognized as a foreign agent) reported, the lawyers are accused of using their status to “ensure the regular transfer of information between leaders, participants in the extremist community and A.A. Navalny, who thereby continued to exercise the functions of leader and manager extremist community.”

On August 4, the Moscow City Court sentenced Alexei Navalny to 19 years of special regime in the case of creating an extremist community (the Anti-Corruption Foundation, FBK, recognized as an extremist organization in the Russian Federation and banned) in conjunction with another punishment.
