Opposition leader Alexei Navalny has filed a lawsuit with the Kovrov City Court against the maximum security penal colony No. 6 in Melikhovo, Vladimir Region. The reason for the lawsuit was the placement of Navalny in a punishment cell for 12 days. This is the ninth lawsuit filed by Navalny against IK-6. This is reported on site court.
From the card on the court’s website, it follows that Alexei Navalny is applying for compensation for “moral damage in connection with harm to life and health.” The plaintiff disputes the decision of September 22 to place him in a punishment cell.
The previous eight lawsuits against the colony were either rejected court, or withdrawn by the plaintiff. In August, Alexei Navalny filed a lawsuit against IK-6 due to the fact that the colony did not disclose information about the customer of the products that the prisoners made. In two lawsuits, he contested the decision of IK-6 on the control of letters between him and the defenders. In other lawsuits, Alexei Navalny challenged his detention in a punishment cell.
Navalny was sent to IK-6 on June 14, before that he was in a general regime colony IK-2 in Pokrov. He was placed in another colony in connection with the decision of the court in the Yves Rocher case, according to which he was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison. On May 31, Alexei Navalny announced that he faces up to 15 years in prison in a new extremism case.
