In the journal Nature Microbiology scientists from the University of Texas presented the results of their scientific work. They stated that in the cells of people infected with SARS-CoV-2, changes in the structure of the genome can occur.
These changes may contribute to impaired immune system function and long-term symptoms, the scientists say. The experts added that in human cells after infection with coronavirus, the virus contributes to the mixing of the spatial compartments of the genome, which are designated as A and B.
