French President Emmanuel Macron has no right to negotiate a settlement of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine “behind the backs of the Ukrainian people.” Such a statement on Tuesday, April 25, was made by the Secretary of the National Security Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksiy Danilov.
As the official stressed, the French leader can discuss peace agreements with Russia when it comes exclusively to relations between Moscow and Paris. When it comes to Ukraine, “without Kyiv, no one will negotiate anything.”
Commenting on the proposal to the Ukrainian authorities to abandon their claims to the Crimea for the sake of cessation of hostilities, Danilov said that in this case let Macron cede Bordeaux or another region of France to another state. Ukraine is not going to give up its intentions to return Crimea and Sevastopol and does not intend to recognize these territories as part of Russia, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council said.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron proposed his plan for resolving the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, with the help of which he hopes to achieve the resumption of peace talks between Moscow and Kiev. At the same time, the politician emphasized that the task of the West is “to help Ukraine survive with all its might, to prevent Russia from winning.”
However, in the European Union and the United States criticized Macron’s initiativesbelieving that they jeopardize the unity of Ukraine’s Western allies.
