NASA will launch a lunar rocket on August 29 to colonize the Moon

August 29 in the United States is considered as the main date for the launch of the Space Launch System (SLS) launch vehicle with the Orion spacecraft to the Moon as part of the Artemis 1 mission.
This was announced on Wednesday by the representative of the US Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), head of the Artemis program Mike Sarafin.
According to him, if the rocket fails to launch on August 29, then the next launch window will open only on September 2. NASA registered the test site just in case and for September 5th.
NASA spokeswoman Charlie Blackwell-Thompson said that the rocket with the ship will be delivered to the launch pad on August 18 and pre-launch preparations will begin. It will launch from Launch Complex 39B at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Artemis 1 is a test mission, as part of which the Orion spacecraft will head to the moon in unmanned mode. It will stay in the orbit of the Earth’s natural satellite for several weeks. This flight should demonstrate the readiness of the SLS rocket and the Orion spacecraft for a manned mission.
If the launch takes place on August 29, then the mission will last 42 days. Then the descent capsule will splash down in the Atlantic on October 10th.
Other missions will follow. In 2024, it is planned to carry out the Artemis 2 mission. A crew of 4 astronauts will go to the Moon. The manned spacecraft must fly around the moon and then splash down in the Atlantic.
The Artemis 3 mission is scheduled for 2025 – American astronauts should land on the moon.
The main goal of the Artemis program is the return of American astronauts to the lunar surface, after 53 years, the construction of a near-lunar station and preparation for the possible colonization of the moon.
