Former head of Viktor Babariko’s headquarters and Svetlana Tikhanovskaya’s campaign representative in the 2020 Belarusian presidential election, Maria Kolesnikova. Sentenced to 11 years in prison, she ended up in intensive care due to an operation for an ulcer. This was reported by Interfax with reference to a statement by the press service of Babariko.
“According to unconfirmed information, Maria has a perforated ulcer,” the report said.
It is indicated that the official diagnosis is still unknown and it is not reported even to relatives.
“Allegedly, a statement or a receipt is required that Mary allows it,” the press service noted.
They added that, according to reports, the operation was successful, but the patient is still in serious condition. Doctors said she was conscious and receiving the necessary treatment.
Kolesnikova was convicted in September 2021 on charges of calling for action against national security, plotting to seize power, and creating an extremist group. She pleaded not guilty.
