Named a possible period of preparation mobilized for a special operation

“Four or five months”

During the partial mobilization announced by President Vladimir Putin, three hundred thousand people will be called up for service. The mobilization will affect those who have served in the Armed Forces and have a military specialty. The mobilized contract soldiers will without fail undergo additional military training, taking into account the experience of a special military operation. Military publicist Vladislav Shurygin spoke about it.

– The training and material base, in my opinion, should be enough in the army. Our army is completed according to a mixed principle – it has both contract soldiers and conscripts. In spring and autumn, 130-150 thousand people are called up, who immediately begin to be trained.

Accordingly, we have a base for training in itself, but, of course, taking into account the law on partial mobilization, it will have to be expanded. The Russian army will not stop training conscripts, plus we are now actually expanding our Ground Forces by almost forty percent. I don’t think it’s an overwhelming task.

There is another, in my opinion, more acute problem – all these people need to be placed somewhere. It will be necessary to deploy new garrisons, new locations, military units.

The question arises: where to get three hundred thousand body armor for these people, four hundred to five hundred tanks, thousands of guns, tens of thousands of other weapons. And all this will need to be received as soon as possible, within three to four months. This is really a super task that we will have to cope with.

– Will such training centers as, for example, the Russian University of Special Forces in Gudermes or similar ones be involved in the preparation of the mobilized?

– Absolutely all training centers will be involved. But here you need to understand that not all centers are suitable for all tasks. The Russian University of Special Forces is very good at preparing special forces, intelligence officers and military personnel with specialties close to these. But he does not train artillery spotters, signalers or anti-tank crews. This should be done by others. And in this case, I repeat, all these training centers will need to be built up, enlarged and rebuilt for this super-task. We must call on the three hundred thousand people announced by the President in the coming month.

– How long does it take to prepare?

– If we call on people who have completed military service, including those with combat experience, then I think that bringing them to combat-ready uniforms is possible in three to four months. Plus, it will take at least two months to turn them from individual good fighters into good battalions, regiments and brigades. In total, in four to five months we will receive highly qualified specialists.
