Musk estimated the risk of the death of humanity due to AI at 10–20% – Kommersant
American entrepreneur Elon Musk admitted that artificial intelligence (AI) could destroy humanity. However, he estimated the probability of such a threat at 10–20%.
“I would probably agree with Geoffrey Hinton (British-Canadian scientist.— ''b'') that the risk is about 10%, 20% or something like that. But I think a positive scenario is more likely,” Mr. Musk said at a conference in Los Angeles (quoted by Business Insider).
In March 2023, Elon Musk, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and more than 1,000 artificial intelligence experts signed an open letter calling for a pause in the training of AI systems until common safety protocols were developed. The letter said: powerful AI systems should be developed with assurances that their effects will be positive and their risks manageable.
