Further development of artificial intelligence (AI) can lead to the death of humanity with a probability of no more than 20%. This opinion was expressed on Monday, April 1, by the creator of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk.

The businessman said he is inclined to agree with the assessment of artificial intelligence research pioneer Geoffrey Hinton, according to which the risk of humanity dying from AI is approximately 10-20%, Business Insider reports.

At the same time, Musk emphasized that he considers a positive scenario more likely than a negative one.

It is noteworthy that in March 2023, Musk said that next year, that is, in 2024, artificial intelligence will become smarter than a personand in five years he will surpass all of humanity in this parameter.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin stated that he is not inclined to agree with those who see “a milestone, a point of no return” in the development of artificial intelligence, or even “some kind of end of the world”. As for the general global regulation of this area, the world will mature to them, “when humanity realizes some real dangers for itself in the event of these technologies being released out of control,” the Russian President noted.
