Public activists believe that it is not superfluous for schoolchildren to get acquainted with domestic and foreign novelties
Experts from the Russian Public Initiative proposed to improve boring music lessons in Moscow schools. Activists believe that it will be useful for students to get acquainted with modern works of Russian and foreign pop music, as well as watch clips shot on them.
As MK found out, public figures came up with the initiative to diversify music lessons in the capital’s schools. In their opinion, today receiving a musical education in general educational state institutions is reduced only to obtaining minimal classical knowledge about the history of music and classical choral education. Moreover, not all children generally have the appropriate lessons in the schedule: for example, there are no music lessons in the final grades. Thus, older students are deprived of the opportunity to expand their horizons in the field of musical art.
Activists proposed introducing one music lesson per week in grades 9–11. Classes should be devoted, among other things, to the works of modern Russian and foreign pop music and performers. In the lessons, students will listen, watch, study and analyze modern compositions and clips shot for these songs. It is expected that teachers will acquaint children with music according to a certain method of analyzing such works both in vocal performance and as part of a filmed video.
As a result of such lessons, schoolchildren will gain new knowledge in terms of modern musical culture. In addition, the innovation will contribute to the creation of additional jobs: for music teachers and teachers of institutes for the development and implementation of methods for studying musical culture in schools.
