Muscovites were warned of approaching 20-degree frosts

In Moscow on Friday, December 8, the thermometer will drop to minus 20 degrees Celsius. The head of the Meteo forecasting center, Alexander Shuvalov, warned about this, as quoted by Izvestia.
Temperatures will drop throughout the week, the forecaster said. On Tuesday, December 4, the weather is expected to drop to minus 10 degrees during the day, with possible snowfall. Then there will be no precipitation at all. On Wednesday, December 5, the temperature will drop to minus 12 degrees during the day and minus 17 degrees at night. On Thursday, December 7, during the day the temperature will drop to minus 14 degrees, at night – minus 17.
On Friday, December 9, the thermometer will reach minus 16 degrees, at night minus 20 degrees. The forecaster clarified that the temperature in December had not dropped to minus 20 degrees for 11 years.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations warned of abnormally cold weather from December 5 to 9. The average daily temperature will be 7-10 degrees below the climate norm.
On December 4, as a result of heavy rainfall, the height of the snow cover in Moscow in some places exceeded 40 centimeters. According to the leading specialist of the Phobos weather center, Evgeniy Tishkovets, snowdrifts of such height were recorded on this day for the first time.
