Muscovites are accustomed to taking the initiative into their own hands – and therefore, after the UAV attack on the morning of May 30, many thought: should they buy an anti-drone gun? This product suddenly became the most popular in specialized stores, despite its immodest cost – at least several hundred thousand rubles, or even a million. Military experts dissuade the civilian population from such a reckless waste of money, explaining that it is not enough just to buy an anti-drone gun, it would be nice to know how to use it …
The idea of defending yourself is not so bad, but on the condition that this self-defense does not result in any problems. The idea of shooting down UAVs on your own with the help of an anti-drone gun (I wonder how? From a balcony?) clearly does not stand up to any professional criticism. Military experts warn that if a drone is shot down “as it should,” then it can fall “as it should” – for example, in the middle of a residential area or literally under a person’s feet. Well, this, if the drone explodes, is already a direct threat to life. Therefore, if you suddenly managed to shoot down the drone on your own (which is unlikely), you should not approach it in any case.
Therefore, the best option is not to engage in amateur activities and call where you should (and where you should call when you find a UAV, Moscow has long explained: to number 112). Military expert Yuri Knutov told MK that it is better not to experiment with an anti-drone gun.
– Massively sold guns today cost about 200 thousand rubles, but they are relevant for strikes on quadrocopters. Here you need to understand: if a quadrocopter is in the city, then this is already a violation of the law. Well, they do not work on aircraft-type drones, which our enemy used to strike at Moscow. Here you need a gun of a completely different power, which will cost about 1 million rubles. In any case, such a purchase is more an act of complacency, and not a means of protection, the expert explains.
According to Knutov, an untrained person can handle an anti-drone gun if he carefully reads the instructions, but it’s still better not to do this.
– In principle, there is nothing complicated here: I turned it on, took aim … In addition, I am sure that if there is a demand now, then special courses for training in shooting from such weapons will certainly appear. However, it is important to remember safety precautions: for example, if there are people nearby at the time of your shot, you can seriously harm their health. It is better to entrust this to the air defense forces.
Another cause for concern, which arises against the backdrop of recent events, is the possible risk for private aircraft: could they be mistaken for enemy objects? As aviation expert Sergei Minigulov said in an interview with an MK correspondent, with due observance of all the rules, there is no cause for alarm:
– We always make an application for a flight in advance. The pilot coordinates the flight on a certain route, he is allowed or not. Living people are always easier to agree among themselves, you can always explain what’s what. It is much more difficult with drones, which is why they were banned. I myself recently flew in a private jet, everything was fine.
Well, if there is a pronounced need for complacency, it is better to find other ways to solve this problem. For example, as a practicing psychologist Anastasia Alexandrova noted in an interview with an MK correspondent, one can pay attention to those methods of self-defense that do not require special training.
– The natural reaction of a person to panic is the desire to do something, to run somewhere, to do something. This is absolutely normal. However, this desire must be commensurate with the real state of affairs, explains Aleksandrova. – In the situation in which we find ourselves, it is quite natural to be nervous and afraid. But there will be nothing good if an unprepared person takes up arms. If your panic is haunting you, do something simpler. For example, collect a “disturbing suitcase” with which you can evacuate from the house in case of emergency. Agree with loved ones how you will contact if you suddenly find yourself separated. Look at the map and find out where the nearest shelter is to your house. We all hope that this information will not be useful, but the feeling that you are prepared for an emergency can calm you down.
