Murashko: Disease X for Russia is a hypothetical threat due to the developed healthcare system
The Russian healthcare system is ready for any threat, including such a hypothetical one as “Disease X”. Health Minister Mikhail Murashko spoke about this in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to him, modern requirements have made the healthcare system quickly adaptable to many threats. The programs currently being implemented have made it possible to strengthen the diagnostic base and establish rapid development of test systems.
The Minister of Health emphasized that it is necessary to maintain preparedness for more serious outbreaks of disease, which is being done successfully in Russia.
One of the subjects of discussion at the World Economic Summit in Davos was “Disease X,” which can be 20 times deadlier than the coronavirus pandemic in terms of the number of deaths. At the same time, the head of Rospotrebnadzor emphasized that the term “disease X” has been around for many years. But no one knows what exactly the new disease will be, what parameters and properties it will have.
