Health Minister Mikhail Murashko held a meeting on organizing the provision of medical care to residents of Russian regions affected by floods. The head of the Ministry of Health instructed the regions to ensure the availability of any medical care for the victims. The minister called the availability of vaccines against infectious diseases for victims especially important, said Mr. Murashko’s assistant Alexey Kuznetsov.

“The Russian Minister of Health instructed the regions to ensure the availability of all types of medical care, taking into account forecasts of rising water levels, providing for changes in routing, transfer of hospital patients to other medical institutions, uninterrupted provision of patients, including in temporary accommodation centers, with necessary medications,” said he (quote from TASS).

Mr. Kuznetsov added that representatives of the affected constituent entities of the Russian Federation reported to the minister about the flood situation and the measures being taken to provide medical care to the victims. How reported Vice Governor for Social Policy and Minister of Health of the Orenburg Region Tatyana Savinova, 72 cases of intestinal infection were recorded in the region, which are associated with floods.

In the Orenburg region, a regional emergency situation was introduced due to flooding. Currently, 554 houses and more than 2.7 thousand household plots are flooded in the region. The authorities of the Altai Territory, the Kurgan Region and the Bolsheglushitsky District of the Samara Region also introduced a state of emergency. In total, 34 regions were affected by floods.
