How to surprise your loved ones on New Year’s Day

There are only a few days left until the New Year 2024 and, of course, most Russians have already prepared New Year’s gifts, since buying in a hurry usually does not lead to anything good. Gifts are a responsible mission, because they will be remembered for a long time. So our stars remember some of the gifts they received for the New Year, and not only that. The artists shared the details with MK.

Irina Starshenbaum, actress:

“I love giving gifts. You don’t have to wait for a holiday to do this. Sending a bouquet of flowers to a friend is a common thing. I like to give what I like the most. Favorite body care cosmetics, some things for the home. On the eve of the New Year, I like to go shopping. Online shopping is good, but all the magic of the holiday is lost.

I am always glad to receive any kind of attention. I love surprises. One day, my friends, led by Masha Ivakova and Nikita Efremov, dressed up in the costumes of Father Frost and the Snow Maiden and came to my home. I opened the door and was very surprised by such creativity, and then there were poems and drawings in order to receive gifts.”

Ekaterina Boldysheva, soloist of the group “Mirage”:

“I remember well how as a child I dreamed of a doll. Not just about an abstract doll, but about a very specific doll, the same one that my friend had. It was a doll made in the GDR with closing eyes and luxurious silky hair. Well, what else could a three-year-old Soviet girl dream of?

And so, on the eve of the New Year, Santa Claus came to our home. I remember I recited some poem, and he took this very doll out of the bag and handed it to me. I jumped for joy on the sofa, and then ran outside in the direction of the kindergarten. The kindergarten was closed, but I ran along the fence and waved this doll, I wanted so much to share this joy with the world.”

Sati Casanova, singer:

“The best gift is emotions and impressions. My husband always gives me memorable gifts, sometimes he’ll record a funny song for me, sometimes he’ll invite me on a trip. And for the golden wedding of Stefano’s parents, we came up with a special gift. Together with them we went to the places where their honeymoon took place 50 years ago.

I also especially remember the gift from Igor Igorevich Matvienko. This was many years ago. We had a New Year’s tour after the “Star Factory” as part of the “Factory” group. And after the concert, Igor Matvienko gave the girls and I a gift, wrapped in a beautiful holiday package. When we opened it, there were more than 5 kilograms of our favorite chocolates. We ate them for a long time, and it seemed to me that they were sweeter and tastier than usual.”

Sergey Lazarev, singer:

“The most memorable gift I received from Santa Claus was a scooter. Mom saved everything to buy it for me. And last year for New Year she gave me a scarf that she knitted with her own hands.

We agreed with my fans a long time ago that I don’t need to give flowers and gifts, it’s better to send money to charity. 100, 200, 500 rubles, whatever you can.”

Yulia Proskuryakova, singer, actress:

“Igor is a generous man, he always gives luxurious gifts and fulfills all my dreams. It can be difficult for me to choose a gift for him. But somehow I gave him a family tree. A special company has prepared a chronicle of the Nikolaev family, with photographs! It took four months to research and collect information, because historians had to carefully work with archival materials and communicate with relatives. It turned out to be a big, weighty book. We found out that the Nikolaevs have noble roots… Igor liked my gift!”
