The Ministry of Transport and Road Facilities of the Amur Region reported that most of the Russians who were previously stuck at the Heihe-Blagoveshchensk border crossing due to the closure of navigation on the Amur River have already returned to the Russian Federation. According to reports, 30 people are still waiting for the crossing.

The ministry stated that “each case is considered individually”, and first of all, citizens “from the category of socially vulnerable”, as well as “those in transit”, are leaving.

The regional Ministry of Transport recommended that citizens refrain from traveling to China unless absolutely necessary. The department noted that during freeze-ups, hovercraft operate on the Amur, but not all such ships are able to overcome ice ridges. It is reported that for work in the off-season, the Amur passenger port “Amurasso” has prepared two units of hovercraft, and this number is designed for standard daily passenger traffic.
